The past week or so has been full of things to smile about:
The sunshine and plenty of BBQs - We've been enjoying a good few weeks of consistently nice weather in the UK and, if you've ever visited, you'll know how rare that is. This, combined with my time off, has meant plenty of BBQs and cracking open beers at 3pm. Perfect.
Having the spare cash to travel - The best thing about having a full-time job (that I also enjoy) is that I earn enough money to pay all the bills. This means I rely on no one and am completely self-sufficient, which makes me happy, and careful spending also means that I have enough spare money to go away once a year and that is awesome, I feel like this part of life is often forgotten about and people downplay how truly incredible it is to be completely independent.
Making the time to read - For me, time away from work means spending less time attached to digital things and more time to spend snuggled up in bed reading (although I am partial to spending far too much time on Instagram). I might do a little regular post about the bits and pieces I'm reading, especially as I'm not in an actual grown-up (well kinda) Book Club.
Spontaneous meals out - One of the things that the SO and I love doing the most is eating out, so when I finished work the other day and he unexpectedly asked whether I wanting picking up and to go grab Nandos, my heart melted.
The Commonwealth Games - Anyone who knows me knows that I'm turning into a little bit of a massive sports fan. It started off with a fascination with football and darts, mainly to get in the good books with SO's dad, but now I rave about it. The Premier League season was magic, the World Cup unpredictable, and Glasgow's Commonwealth Games are making this one hell of a summer of sport.
What has gotten you smiling this week?
