I was recently invited to attend a buritto masterclass from Barburitto. I don't think it's an overstatement to say that I was ecstatic by the idea of going along to their restaurant in Leeds and learning all about their company's ethos, especially when it came alongside delicious Mexican food.
People who know me know that Mexican food is probably my favourite thing ever. What is there not to like? So I went along to the Boar Lane restaurant with my two friends and met Steph from Barburitto. We were met by chips, guacamole and salsa - is there a better way to be greeted? Oh, and beer, there was also beer, which took it already from excellent into pretty god damn awesome.

We sat down and waited for the others to arrive, and then Steph told us all about the people behind Barburitto. I'd never realised what a small chain it is, and we have two in Leeds! I can see why people from all over the world want to get their hands on it, but we're not giving up ours!
We were then brought samples of everything to try, and it was so, so SO good. It gave us all the chance to try things we might never want to commit to for a full buritto, including the extra hot salsa. After we'd tried everything on offer, with chips of course, we then got down to learning how to wrap those delicious burittos.

First we learnt how to wrap with a rice-filled buritto (to make it easier). It's fairly simple once you get the hang of it, but now I have so much respect for the guys and ladies that can do it super fast for hundreds of hungry people. Once we'd all got the wrapping down to a fine-ish art we moved onto the real thing.
Of course, we could choose from whatever fillings we wanted. During the tasting sessions, I tried their pulled pork and it was SO delicious that I knew it was going to be in my burrito. I then had my usual burrito of no beans, Mexican rice, and all the lettuce, guacamole, jalapenos, cheese and sour cream I could fit in.
Then it was all down to the tasting. I have to say, as my first go at making my own burrito I think I did brilliantly, and had a very delicious burrito at the end of it all. Though, that is probably down to the tasty ingredients that Barburrito pride themselves on rather than my own skills!

We all had an absolutely brilliant time, and will definitely be heading to Barburrito next time my belly starts rumbling for Mexican food, which could be the second I finish this post. Thanks Derrick, Steph and the rest of the Barburrito team, as well as all the really patient customers who had to wait until we had moved to get their Mexican hit.
