"The victim should have the right to end his life, if he wants. But I think it would be a great mistake. However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. While there's life, there is hope." - Stephen Hawking
I was happily scrolling around the internet yesterday and I saw the below trailer. It metaphorically blew my mind for two main reasons: Stephen Hawking is one of my ultimate heroes, and I had no idea such a film was even in production.
After watching the trailer four or five times, I am now more excited about it than ever. The film focuses on the time that Stephen gets diagnosed with the condition that was set to ruin his life. But we all know that that isn't how the story ends at all.

Based on the memoir by his first wife Jane, the film claims to tell the "extraordinary story of one of the world's greatest living minds". From the trailer, it looks to start around the time the two first meet and the romance begins while at Cambridge University.
Little was expected from 21-year-old Stephen when he got the diagnosis that he had motor neuron disease as it was sure to cripple him, which it by all accounts did, but he was to exceed all expectations, especially when doctors gave him just two years to live.

Directed by acclaimed documentary maker James Marsh, the film starts with Stephen meeting Jane for the first time and tells of us his early achievements, hinting at what would lead Hawking to make some of science's biggest discoveries. However, when the 20-something is on the brink of finding a breakthrough for blackholes, he is diagnosed with the fatal condition and is seemingly written off by everyone around him - apart from Jane.
From the trailer it's hard to see how far the film will follow Stephen's life but I am so excited to see it and have completely reserved New Year's Day.

"One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don't throw it away." - Stephen Hawking
