If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you'll know that I spent the weekend at my friend's wedding and it was just the most lovely time. I spent the whole weekend with some of my work colleagues, who have quickly become friends and I was left thinking how lucky I am when it comes down to it and how far I've come from the kid who worried about everything.
My life is full of little pleasures and I really should take the time to realise that every now and then, instead of moaning and whining.

1. Driving - Learning to drive is one of the best things I have ever done. That may sound odd and overdramatic but, not only do I love the feeling when I'm being the wheel, it gives me my independence and means I can go anywhere at any time (as long as I have the cash to fill up the tank). It was also one of the first times in my life where I was so close to giving up. It took me six times to pass and it was taking all of my money from my part-time, awful job and time when I wasn't at college and I just didn't see a day when I would pass. But I persevered and I did it. To the point where I actually full-on screamed in the examiner's face when he said I'd passed. By the way, I'm a pretty great driver now.
2. Being self-sufficient - Sometimes I forget how brilliant and satisfying it is to be completely self-sufficient at the age of 23. I have a full-time job, pay all my own bills, run my car, pay for car insurance and can even stretch to have a holiday once a year (though on a TIGHT budget) and give people presents at Christmas. This may not seem like a lot but I am so proud of the fact that I rely on no one, not my parents or my partner or anyone to get by. In a world full of lavish expense and glamour I feel being self-sufficient is overlooked. Sure it's not fancy or news worthy but it is brilliant.

3. Getting to write everyday - My job isn't the best in the world and has a lot of downsides but I get to do something I love and is actually using the degree I spent so long working for. Importantly it is a stepping stone and I have no idea where it will lead but I will always be grateful about getting this job, which allowed me to do so much more. I also get to be with some truly awesome people that make even the worst day seem a little bit OK.
4. Having my own place - So I only rent and it isn't in the nicest place and parts of it could definitely do with sprucing up and it steals most of my pay packet but it's all mine. Sure I can't wait for the day when I can move somewhere nicer and share somewhere with the SO and we discuss paint colours and room decor and buy stuff because we won't be moving anytime soon, but my little flat is fine. For now.
5. The SO - I'm not a cheesy person, and I will yell at him if he tries to PDA me but he is a good egg. I am so lucky to have someone in my life that respects me for who I am and shares the same dreams and ideals as I do. I never thought I would land someone like him but I did and it was worth all of the heartache beforehand.
