At the weekend I had the honour of being my friend's bridesmaid at her Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding. It meant that I didn't get to spend a lot of time with the SO until the meal and speeches and all that was over. I was worried about how he'd be but he was a real trooper and mingled like a pro (I think my friends like him now more than me). He also scrubs up pretty well. I love me a blue suit.
It was a pretty long drive down from Leeds to Devon (about six hours with a stop off) but it was a fairly smooth journey. We took my friend from work and his partner down as well and we were all acting like such city kids, being appalled by the complete lack of signal and internet access everywhere we went. Sat Nav also tried to make us drive off a cliff and I had to repeat myself 398238 times when asking directions, apparently my accent is stronger than I thought for the southern folk.

As you can see, the tables were decorated beautifully, and each person had a teacup and playing card to take home. Disappointingly I didn't take photos of the meal but I had a delicious smoked salmon starter, chicken for main and then a Bailey's cheesecake. I was just so tired at this point as I'd been so worried about everything going right for the bride and groom. I was also a few minutes away from hunger stropping so I wolfed down my starter and rest of the food.
This is only the second full wedding that I've been to (and I've been a bridesmaid at both) and it was just lovely to see two people so happy. I've never seen the groom look as happy as he did on his wedding day, whether it was relief that it was finally all over or what I don't know but he just looked so content - they both did.
All-in-all I had a lovely weekend with some of the best people. We had so many laughs and giggles and I did some REALLY odd dancing but it was great. As always, it made me think about how lucky I am to have the SO and how one day we'll be taking the same leap of faith as the bride and groom did at the weekend. Crazy and very grown up. Congrats guys.
